Hackers and criminals are finding that the easiest way into a company isn’t hacking the firewall or breaking into a building, but nicely asking employees and partners for information that will grant them access to company data.
The attempts can come through as an email, a phone call, a piece of mail, or even a fax. By masquerading as someone who has a legitimate reason to access to the data, they can get information they should not have.
By exercising caution when dealing with data requests and scrutinizing the source of the data request, employees and partners can help keep the company secure.
